We are told to fear God above everything else, for he has the ability to cast our souls and bodies into hell. People live in fear of others where there is no fear and are not aware that it is God who holds all power! He is our protection and the one who gives us our worth. “I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass; And forgettest the Lord thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?”.(Isaiah 51:12,13).
People go by what they see and what the world can offer, but God see’s that through great faith of an individual it is the inner man he holds of great value. It is the hidden man of the heart………..”But let it be the hidden man of the heart , in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price”.(1 Peter 3:4).
People get so caught up with what they can see and lose sight that Faith opens up a whole new world to God.. When Samuel heard the Lord say that he regretted making Saul king over Israel it grieved Samuel and he stayed in grief longer than the Lord felt he should of. “And Samuel came no more to see Saul until the day of his death: nevertheless Samuel mourned for Saul: and the Lord repented that he had made Saul king over Israel. And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Beth-lehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons”.(1 Samuel 15:35…..16:1). So when he was told to go and anoint another Samuel thought for sure when E-li’-ab stood before him surely of great stature this must be the one he was to anoint. But God does not see as man does and told Samuel what is really more important. “And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on E-li’-ab, and said, Surely the Lord’s annointed is before him. But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance (appearance), or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the ourward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart”.(1 Samuel 16:6,7).
The wicked do not even consider the worth of their soul and the word tells us their heart is of little worth in the eyes of God, since they will even lose sleep lest they cause some to fall for plotting contiually. The wicked live a life away from God and forfeit the value of their own soul’s.”The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth. Enter not in the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall”(Psalm 10:20….4:14-16).
The Christian carries within them the words of God and are sent to tell others of his saving grace. His word is so Holy and of Great Worth that if we enter a home not worthy we are told to leave and shake the dust off our feet. We are told to be Holy for he is Holy! “And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence (from there). And when ye come into an house, salute it. And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of Judgement, than for that city”.(Matthew 10:11-15).(1 Peter 1:15,16).
The sparrow is not seen as the most beautiful of birds, but they are of worth to our Father in heaven. “Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows”.(Matthew 10:29-31).
In the words of Helen Keller these most wonderful words echo what a world of darkness she lived in gave her with so much insight that could only come from God: THE BEST AND MOST BEAUTIFUL THINGS IN THE WORLD CANNOT BE SEEN OR EVEN TOUCHED, THEY MUST BE FELT WITH THE HEART!
