“The Word Offends, But Press On”

There will always be children of obedience and children of disobedience in the earth, yet we are told the word of God is offensive to the sinner and we are Blessed to follow and obey it. Jesus himself said: And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me”.(Matthew 11:6). Who wouldn’t want to live as they want then just go on into heaven, But to think this way shows we’re not making any sacrifice of living in service to Christ.

When we live as the world does it is easy to fit in and be liked. Jesus never cared if he fit into the world’s mold, just carrying out his Fathers will in the earth and this way puts a stumbling block in front of many people to this day. He is known as a stumbling block and rock of offence for a reason. People are offended when you tell them that they are the temple of God and Jesus is the chief cornerstone of the spiritual church he bought with his blood. “Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed”.(Hebrews 2:6-8).
We can probably think back through the years when we knew a friend or relative we had that was so much fun in celebrating different things together and now all they ever wanted to do was talk about the Lord, but now they only focus on their new life and the salvation of God and we kind of distance ourself because they seem to be on a different path now. All truth be known they have found a different path and it is a narrow one of truth the world takes offence to and they have what scripture calls been born again!
“For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries: wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. For  this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the Spirit. But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer”.(1 Peter 4:3-7).
Jesus did not live an easy life for he entered a world set on sin and wickedness, and to those who follow his way today will have the same fight of afflictions as he did which can be overcome by the Holy Spirit of God! It is vital to love the word of God more than what this world offers and not take offence to it, for it is our life. “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. Lord, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments. My soul hath kept thy testimonies; and I love them exceedingly”.(Psalm 119:165-167).
