“The Letter”

first

Ever get a letter that brought you such joy you had to read and reread it? God has written such a letter to us and he even calls us his friend. “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his Lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you”.(John 15:14-16).

Sadly enough friends come and go in our lives, and they either knew you for their personal gain or after a time their true colors show through and we did not perceive them to be as they slowly unveil their true motives which do not coincide with our thoughts as God placed in our hearts to follow him. Those who are not in Christ shine for a time, but their light dims as the way they chose would take us from the one who has called us out of darkness into his marvellous light!  If God is not deeply planted within a persons heart and mind they fall away as we see in the parable of the sower. “Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow: And it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up. And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away”.(Mark 4:3-6).
The bible that is Gods letter to his children tells us of others who have gone before us which carried the same deep faith as we do and it encourages us also to press on and win the race that is set before us! Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds”.
(Hebrews 12:1-3).
There is such Love, Power, Guidance, Strength, Hope, Faith gained by reading the bible that if we meditate upon it’s words that it becomes such a part of us that we become a walking epistle for all to hear and follow. “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the spirit of the living God: not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart. And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficientcy is of God. Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit; for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life”.(2 Corinthians 3:2-6).
What greater gift can anyone give another than a letter written on our hearts to share with others searching for salvation and we are able to guide them through the ministry God has entrusted to us! Gods letter to us gives us the knowledge of how to handle life’s troubles and brings comfort that soothes our soul’s. “Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. When I said, my foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up. In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul”.(Psalm 94:16-19).
