When Jesus said not to let our hearts be troubled or let it be afraid he meant that he fulfilled everything he said he would accomplish at the cross! He has already overcome this world we live in and we through him can do the same. “Peace I leave with you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”. (John 14:27). “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world”.(John 16:33).
The power of prayer in a believers life is not just words being lifted up into thin air, our prayers are heard by God when we live as he has asked us to do, and his ears are closed to those who stay in their sin. Many feel God hears all prayers and fights for us no matter how we conduct our life, but scripture is very plain that if we stay in sin our prayers are unheard and if we turn to God and worship him he steps in IF WE DO HIS WILL! “Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth”.(John 9:31). Why would God fight for those opposed to what his will is?
God will always step in on our behalf and fight for us, and nothing pleases him more than to help us to be strong to carry our his will in the earth. He has stood by many throughout the years! “Plead my cause , O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help. Draw out also spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am thy salvation. Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt. Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the Lord chase them. Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the Lord persecute them. For without cause have they hid for me their net in a pit, which without cause they have digged for my soul”.(Psalm 35:1-7).
God will deliver us from all who oppress us and repay upon the head of those who afflict us, for this is a promise God keeps to his people. “But thus saith the Lord, Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children. And I will feed them that oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the Lord am thy Saviour and thy redeemer, the mighty one of Jacob”.(Isaiah 49:25,26).
We are known as the apple of Gods eye and he will protect his own. He is just and fair when it comes to anyone trying to harm any of his children! “Shew thy marvellous loving kindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust in thee from those that rise up against them. Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about”.(Psalm 17:7-9).
