Even though through the year’s I have heard people say we are all God’s children, it really needs to be said differently as not all people are God’s children. Yes God created all people, but are they doing his will as asked? Do all people made live for Christ? God himself said Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated! Does this mean there is unrighteousness with God? “As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth”.(Romans 9:13-16,18).

As christians we are told we are children of light for Christ is known as the light of the world and we abide in him and he in us. God says if any one hate his brother he abides in darkness! “And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob”.(Genesis 27:41). “He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes”.(1 John 2:9-11).
God our Father in heaven is a just God, but will not at all retain love of wickedness or evil for anyone claiming to be a servant of Christ or claim to be a child of God. When people make the choice of evil over good then they are known as the children of disobedience and are in line for the wrath of God upon them. “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry. For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds”.(Colossians 3:5-9).
To say that we are all God’s children is to say there is unrighteousness in God along with every other evil work man needs to repent of! Heaven then would be filled with all we endured here on earth and we would have to then ask ourselves……. What is the purpose of repentance? and what was the meaning of Christ hanging on the cross for? God clearly tells us we are not all his children, so let’s stop believing the lie out there! “Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother”.(1 John 3:7-10).

  1. As you pointed out at the beginning, we are all God’s children by creation, all created in His image. And, of course, that does not mean that all are redeemed children by the new birth.

  2. Michael Snow……………VERY WELL SAID! You understand that the new birth is the difference of the children of the world and the children born of the Spirit which are redeemed after repentance. God Bless You.
