People believe all worship that is done surely is the worshiping of God Almighty, yet scripture tells us not all worship is to the glory of God. Jesus didn’t hesitate to call those who were following the doctrines of men hypocrites as they honoured God with their mouth, and their heart was far from him. “Ye hypocrites, well did E-sai’-as prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15:7-9).
Is there any way of knowing just who is truly serving God and who is not serving him as he warrants? The answer is a resounding yes! Many will speak of the world and his people speak of the world to come, and the Holy Spirit dwells within a true believer as they speak of repentance and are not a servant of sin. They will not lie as they know the truth of the word and will not waver from it! “For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie; so he was their Saviour”.(Isaiah 63:8). “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth”. (John 4:23,24).
Those in the body of Christ know there is freedom through the Spirit of God, and it is written by how we choose to live that prayers are hindered if we live in sin. “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty”.
(2 Corinthians 3:17). We are saved by the grace of God and to continue in sin would show no difference to others that are seeking the truth which can set them free in Christ. “Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth”.(John 9:31).
