To this day there are some who feel we are under the law Christ died to free us from. It is important to note the law has no bearing on the person who chooses to abide by the correct laws of life, but it is in place for the disobedient and those who live contrary to the ways of God and his sound doctrine. “Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers. For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine”.(1 Timothy 1:9,10).
We are considered to be a liar and the truth is not in us if we say we know and serve God, yet neglect to keep the commandments. (1 John 2:3-7).
It is not a joke in the eyes of God as there are still today people who feel the ten commandments are no longer in effect, and God does not expect us to abide by them any longer. He plainly tells us things will not go well if we trespass them and forsake him! “And the spirit of God came upon Zech-a-ri’-ah the son of Je-hoi’-a-da the priest, which stood above the people, and said unto them, Thus saith God, Why transgress ye the commandments of the Lord, that ye cannot prosper? because ye have forsaken the Lord, he hath also forsaken you”.(2 Chronicles 24:20).
Nothing makes God happier than for his children to be of like mind and living according to his purpose and not their own. God will actually walk contrary to us if we decide to shun his will as we see Asa saw this first hand as God told him he would forsake him if that was his choice. (2 Chronicles 15:1-4).
Jesus did not come to change the law, but to fulfill it…………….”Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil”.(Matthew 5:17).
