How many start out the new year with a resolution of change? Mostly a change of self image (lose weight), self profit (New job), this past year the selfie has been so popular that all were excited even the Pope did one! Christ came to give us hope not to be filled with self, but of a hope for eternal life and a life of joy and renewed strength which can only come not of ourselves but of a service to God. (1 Timothy 4:8-10).. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
Why not this year make room for God and the Saviour he has sent us. He has paid a great price to allow us to enter into heaven for all eternity. (Titus 3:4-7). But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Many call on God only when in trouble, why not celebrate this year the good blessings with all that we have been given, as all comes from the hand of God. (Colossians 3:16,17). Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
This time we are given is not all about us, it is what we do with the life we have been given that makes a difference in not only this life but the one to come as well. Flesh will not inherit heaven, but the Spirit of God will (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).
It is not too late to repent and start anew!…..He is waiting.
