” The Garden “

thCADE9ON1zc

In the very beginning of all creation God planted a garden eastward in Eden (Genesis 2:8), and for many of us gardening gives us peace as we tend to our own gardens. A garden is a very peaceful place to be, yet as the serpent was an enemy in the Garden of Eden so does satan lurk and slither through our life. We as Christians are not ignorant of his devices. (1 Peter 5:8-9).  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

The blessed of the Lord are as a tree planted by rivers of water, and we know that God will one day gather His people Israel that were scattered and their soul will then be as a watered garden. (Jeremiah 31:10-14).  Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.  For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.  Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.  And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord.

Did you know that where our Lord and Saviour was buried there was a garden? (John 19:40-42).  Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.  Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
