We see early in scripture that it was at the mountain of God Moses had an angel appear to him in the midst of a bush in a flame of fire, and when Moses turned to see why the bush was not consumed by the fire God then spoke to him! (Exodus 3:1-6,12). Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb. And the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground. Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God. And he said, Certainly I will be with thee; and this shall be a token unto thee, that I have sent thee: When thou hast brought forth the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.
God has always dwelt in His Holy Mountain and the apostle Simon Peter spoke of the time when he heard the voice of God in the Holy Mount say: This is my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. (2 Peter 1:16-18).
The word often times tells how trees of the field are His people, and the day will come when He will take down the high tree (Haughty) and exalt the low tree (Humble) and all this will be in the height of Israel in His Holy Mountain. (Ezekiel 17:22-24) Thus saith the Lord God; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and eminent: In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell. And all the trees of the field shall know that I the Lord have brought down the high tree, have exalted the low tree, have dried up the green tree, and have made the dry tree to flourish: I the Lord have spoken and have done it…… (Psalm 75:7).
