As Christians we are to love what God loves and hate what God hates, therefore for us to not do so it would show no difference between good and evil, or righteousness and unrighteousness. Hell would not exist and there would be no reason to be obedient to God if all have a free ride to heaven without any kind of repentance! This is not biblical and Christ would have died in vain then. (Psalm 139:19-24).
God is angry with the wicked every day and there truly are things He will not tolerate, this is the reason He saw to it to send His Son for man needed a Saviour, as God does not take pleasure in the death of anyone. (Ezekiel 33:11-13). Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel? Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth. When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.
No one can stand against God though many try, and He will have mercy and compassion on whomsoever He wants. Esau hated his brother Jacob and sought to slay him because of the blessing he received of his father, but did you know God hated Esau and loved Jacob? (Romans 9:13-16) As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy….. (Genesis 27:38-41).
God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah not for the love they showed towards Him, but for their choice to continue living in their sin without remorse. Proverbs cannot lay it out more plainly of what God hates and what is and abomination in His sight. (Proverbs 6:16-19). These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Judgment is inevitable to establish justice in the earth. One day the Lord will see to it. (Jeremiah 23:5-6). Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, The Lord Our Righteousness.
