Our Lord knew all too well what it felt like to endure all He was sent here for. You would think that for all Christ stood for He would have had many friends, yet He had to endure and be rejected even of His own. (Matthew 13:54-58). And when he was come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, insomuch that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works? Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Just like Paul in front of Agrippa when he gave his testimony of what happened to him on the road to Damascus will he be told he was crazy or beside himself we will endure the same when telling our testimony of meeting Christ, and we suffer gladly for the one who gave His life for us! (Acts 26:24-29) And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad. But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner. King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds……( Acts 26).
As a Christian we will be thought of as different and there is no shame in bearing a message the world will not accept, just as written Jesus was not believed on many things but this does not change what we endure to tell as many as we can of the price paid for their redemption. (1 Peter 3:15-17) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing……. (Jude 21-23).
