” Follow Me “

These two simple words will cause much distress to the child of the world, but for the true disciple of Christ it means everything and an honor to be called to obey such a teacher as the Son of God himself. To truly follow Christ self must become less important in the worlds eyes for self is concerned with what it will eat, wear, or get, but our Father knows what we have need of and we are told to first seek the kingdom of God and our needs will be met. (Luke 12:22,23,29-32).

What will people think if we no longer live as we once did. Should we be worried we won’t be liked or are misunderstood? Jesus said to remember He was hated before we were, and if we take up our cross to follow Him are we willing to lose our life literally for the sake of finding it in the light of knowing no matter what we will gain eternal life? (Matthew 16:24-28)  Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom……… (1 Peter 4:1-4).

The narrow path is as a wilderness! For the wide path has room for everything the world can offer you, but if our Lord suffered in the flesh for us then should not we be like minded and know when He says “Follow Me” it is as Peter and his brother the fishermen, and Matthew the tax collector who dropped what they were doing and followed Him? (Matthew 9:9)  And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him……. (Matthew 4:18-20).
