God chose many rulers and people to further His cause in the earth and as long as they represented who He was and what He stands for then all went well, but Nebuchadnezzar, Cyrus, and Alexander are cases in point of some who did not want to advance the kingdom of God as He would have it. Many times we see a people removed as we see of the An’-a-kim’s which were giants in the earth and the children of Lot took possession of the land! (Deuteronomy 2:16-22). So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people, That the Lord spake unto me, saying, Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day: And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession. (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims; A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the Lord destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead: As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:
In the prayer Hannah prayed she knew very well of the power of God and what He was capable of. How He killeth, and maketh alive: He bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. It is not by mans strength, but by the power of the God he serves which takes the enemy out of the way and moves mountains. (1 Samuel 2:6-10). The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and he hath set the world upon them. He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
As Christians we are the representatives of a kingdom which will have no end, and the Lord we serve was foretold of in Isaiah 9:6-7 and of His kingdom which would be established with judgment and justice do we tell others of the importance of being a servant of Christ. (Isaiah 9:6-7). For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Jesus taught us that no matter what kingdom man lives in on earth, it was far more important to be born from above and have the kingdom of God in his heart! The place where He truly lives with man. (Luke 17:20-21).
