It is hard to understand why it takes a time of weakness and suffering to feel the strength of God, but if there were no times of weakness then the comfort we have when we turn to Him would cause us not to know how much He cares for us! Paul was faced with many trials and after seeking the Lord was given an answer (2 Corinthians 12:8-10). For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
The grace of God was with our Lord from the very beginning of His life. The same grace our Lord had is available to us as well. When we acknowledge who God really is it is easier to see why we need His mercy. Our faith in Him brings this precious gift of grace into our life and saves us (Ephesians 2:5-8). Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
When we look at what the word grace means it is seen why man needs this wonderful gift sent only from above. Grace: To pardon and forgive, mercy shown, favor, sanctification.
