The Adornment of the TONGUE

Are our TONGUES flowing

with sweet water or bitter ?

Are we ALWAYS FOUND speaking

words of Truth

words of flattery ?

Have we DETERMINED not to know any thing among our friends, relatives, and acquaintances…  except JESUS CHRIST and HIM+ crucified ? 1 Corinthians 2:2

The tongue is a WORLD of iniquity;

who can tame it ?

James 3

Yes, we KNOW BETTER than to gossip and speak derogatory, accusative words about others. However, these words are in our heart BEFORE THEY ARE ON OUR TONGUE.

Hear what Our LORD HEARS :

O LORD, THOU+ hast searched me, and known me.

THOU+ knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

THOU+ compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

For there is not a word in my tongue,

but, lo, O LORD,

THOU+ knowest it altogether.

Psalm 139

Are we lifting up Self in our witticism, jesting, and “cuteness” when we talk with others — drawing attention to ourselves ?  Are we trying to have others like us and think we are SO clever ?  If so, this is iniquity.

Are we careful to speak ONLY Words that will edify, Words that will lead others to CHRIST JESUS, words that will make others THINK ABOUT The LORD ?

NO, we do NOT need to indulge in “flattery”  nor in making others feel “comfortable”  in their sin !  We are NOT CHRISTIAN Humanists  and tolerate ALL manner of lifestyle and sin.

We must be careful and led by The SPIRIT

even in whom we cast our smiles upon !

We speak volumes by our countenance and our deportment… and we NEVER, EVER confuse a sinner with thinking JESUS is “SO LOVING” that HE+ overlooks a sinner’s iniquity.

That is not true love

because the iniquity

is killing that soul….

which JESUS well knows.

The serious-mindedness of our DEPORTMENT… quietly kind to all but careful NOT TO BRING comfort to the sinner …  must be cultivated in us by yielding unto The HOLY SPIRIT.

It  starts by  taming the tongue.

It starts by DETERMINING NOT to know ANYTHING when we are among others, except JESUS CHRIST and HIM+ crucified.

It starts when we PRACTICE crucifying our own flesh — our attention-demanding Self — in order to bear witness to CHRIST JESUS instead of to ourselves.

Let us pray

O Heavenly FATHER,  blessed be Thy HOLY Name.

We ask your forgiveness and cleansing by The BLOOD of JESUS for how we have used our lips.

We confess the iniquity of our tongue

as it struts through the earth. Help us to purify our hearts in regard to others.

Help us to REFUSE to draw attention to our Self  with our words, but yield our desire for attention and acceptance unto THEE+. O LORD, THOU+ art able to provide for us all the attention we could ever need.

Help us, instead, to turn our hearts to LIFTING UP THEE+, Our  SAVIOR+ JESUS CHRIST, even by our quiet demeanor… that the HOLY SPIRIT may rest heavily upon us… that when we are with others, we may bear a constant witness to THEE+, O CHRIST, without saying a word.

We praise THEE+ and glorify THEE+ , O Righteous FATHER, through our obedience unto Thy Precious Righteous SON+, JESUS CHRIST our LORD.

James 3

But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
