Jesus is the king of kings and the Lord of Lords and who would have thought any one of us could become sons and daughters of a king? Even Jesus knew the world that was made by Him did not accept Him nor was He received of His own, but for those who receive Him and believe upon His name they are given power to become His son or daughter!(John 1:10-13). He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
When we repent and truly make a change for the better there is a difference, even scripture teaches to not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers for light does not mix with darkness or righteousness with unrighteousness. We are expected to be separate from our old way of life. We become sons and daughters of a spiritual family where Christ is the king of an eternal kingdom! (2 Corinthians 6:14-18), Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (Revelation 18:4).
