Fear is an emotion that can and does overtake us from time to time, but there is always a way out through claiming the hope we find in Christ because as christians we have not been given the spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1: 7-9). 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
Psalm 27 tells us most beautifully how the Lord is the strength of our life!Even though our enemy may surround us or war may arise we know there is safety in the secret place of the tabernacle of God who we serve (Psalm 27:1-5). The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
There is only one fear we are to have. (Proverbs 16:6) 6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil. (Proverbs 19:23)
