How many people say they have a strong faith, but when tragedy hits they crumble. There are so many stories of courage written about in the bible that we too can gain strength by reading what God has done for others.
Joshua and Caleb were mere men who were instructed by Moses to search out the land of ca’-na-an to see whether the people there were strong or weak, few or many? They returned with a good report that they should go and possess it.But the other men who went with them had a completely different report and said there were giants and the people were stronger than them!
Just like today one sees defeat while another sees victory. The difference was Joshua and Caleb had an undying faith in the Lord they served.(Numbers 14:7-9).7 And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.8 If the Lord delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.9 Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.
Alot of people know the passage “If God be for us who can be against us”.This tells us we are not alone and of a greater number in the Lord than without Him.
Could we be just as courageous as Sha’-drach,Me’-shach,and Abed-nego when faced with being thrown into a fiery furnace? They were confident God would protect them and we truly see their courage when they stayed faithful by saying even if they were no delivered they would not serve King Neb-u-chad-nez’s God ot worship his golden image!(Daniel 3:13-18).13 Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
