He Will Plead Our Cause

Psalms tells us ……. Let those who rejoice at our hurt be clothed with shame, while those who magnify the Lord will shout together who favor our righteous cause! (Psalm 35:1, 26-28).  Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.  Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves against me. Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the Lord be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.

God knows the hearts and minds of His people so we are assured when we are afflicted He is well aware of it, and will plead the cause of His people which is to do His will in the earth. (Isaiah 51:22-23).  Thus saith thy Lord the Lord, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as the street, to them that went over.

When our enemy seems so strong against us we must keep in mind if we have sinned it is against God who is merciful to forgive, and He will plead our cause and put our enemy to shame. (Micah 7:8-10).  Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me. I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness. Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the Lord thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

God pleads our cause many times in life and sometimes we fail to see His hand. If anyone should rob us the Lord will plead our cause and rob the soul of those who robbed (spoiled) us. (Proverbs 22:22-23). Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:or the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

  1. I thank you for posting the words of this Psalm. I needed to read this today to remind me that Jesus fights my worst battles and bad memories.
