The Slate Is Wiped Clean

We can only imagine how far the east is from the west, yet that is how far God has removed our transgressions from us and by repentance are we forgiven and the slate is wiped clean! (Psalm 103:12-18).

The words, I love you and you are forgiven may very well be the most beautiful words given to man, and we find the very first time forgiveness is spoken of in scripture is in the book of Genesis when Josephs father had died and left the message that he should forgive his brethren who had done evil unto him. (Genesis 50:15-21).  And when Joseph’s brethren saw that their father was dead, they said, Joseph will peradventure hate us, and will certainly requite us all the evil which we did unto him.And they sent a messenger unto Joseph, saying, Thy father did command before he died, saying,So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him. And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants. And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

Jesus accomplished so much at the cross and we need to believe Him that when we repent people may hang things over our head, but our Lord has shed His blood to clear us from all sin and He is the ONLY person to have done this for us! (Ephesians 4:30-32)  And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you………. (Colossians 1:12-14).

Sometimes we are our own worst enemy by not being able to forgive ourselves, but God is very reasonable and it was not out of jest that He sent His Son to pay the price for our freedom from sin. As a Christian we need to take Him at His word and BELIEVE we are forgiven or scripture has no place in our life. (Isaiah 1:16-20).  Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
