Praise God Through The Hard Times

If there were anyone who understood tragedy more it would have to be Job! We could only imagine all those whom we love being taken all at one time such as family, animal’s, and servants, and then later even health taken by being covered head to toe in boils. But what did Job do? He worshipped the Lord and said blessed be the name of the Lord. (Job 1:13-22)  And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house: And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house: And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly..Just as it be with Job so be it with us when tragedy or a difficult situation come before us satan does not like those who love the Lord, but people we need to press on or we serve a Mighty God! (Job 1:8-12).

Paul and Silas were in a difficult time by being cast into prison after they were beat and had their clothes torn off. Yet at midnight they prayed and sang praises unto God. But God did hear them and caused an earthquake to shake the foundation that then immediately opened all the doors. (Acts 16:22-28).  And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them. And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks. And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled. But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

As a Christian we know there will be trials we endure for Christs sake, but we also know even though our faith be tried that at the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ it will bring glory and praise to Him! (1 Peter 1:6-9).  Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

  1. Julia, worshipping God despite the trials, makes room for the presence of God. Paul and Silas worshipped God at midnight and God came! Their bonds fell off, the other prisoners were freed and the prison doors were opened. The jailer and his household were also saved. It is amazing what happens when we worship God in the midst of hardship.

Thank you for sharing. Abundant overflowing blessings!

  3. It always amazes me how others are so strong when they’re going through unbearable things. I know I’m not that strong, but I also know God will give me the strength I’ll need when I need it. Storms are coming. We just need to remember to keep on praising him!
