At this time of year no one questions why they are doing what they do as they like sheep follow the herd to celebrate all the festivities and traditions! God forbid someone such as myself should say I do not follow traditions of men!…………But isn’t this the persecution Jesus spoke of would happen if you no longer do as you used to and have been called from the ways of the world? Oh how I used to fit in when my house was all decorated at this time of year, as I never questioned where it all came from and why would I? After all the word Christmas has the name Christ in it and everyone is doing it more than not so it must be right …. Right??? Many times when persecution happens people are guilted back into the traditions they have since learned do not honor God at all.
God is a Holy God and He expects His children to do as He asks which is to follow His truth no matter how unpopular it may seem. If He says to be friends of the world is to be His enemy, I believe Him (James 4:4). God expects us to serve Him in spirit and in truth, but if we serve Him as the world does we are therefore no more any different than the old way we claim we have left behind (John 4:23,24).
I have quit looking to the world for answers and only believe what the scriptures teach as the truth. Keep in mind God Himself says the wisdom of this world is foolishness to Him. (1 Corinthians 3:19). The following is a list of what the world is busy doing at this time of year and sadly stamping Gods name on it, but I believe God would view it for the foolishness it is!
1.) Can reindeer really Fly?
2.) Can a real large person in a red suit really fit down a chimney?
3.) Does Santa really exist? satan is known as the father of lies and the five letters of Santa twisted is who is really being served…….satan.
4.) Is it true every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings?
5.) December is the season of giving……I’ve read how God loves a cheerful giver, but scripture doesn’t give the month for that.
6.) Since God is Love and is a God of peace then why do people complain of “The stress of the holidays”? God’s way is of Peace and not chaos or confusion.
7.)Cutting down a pine tree and putting it in your house and decorating it with lights and ornaments. How again does this Honor God?
8.) Is there instructions on a mistle toe plant that says when you hang it people will want to kiss?
9.) God’s word is clear on all His instructions for us….Where again is the passage “When my Son dies, celebrate and call it Christmas? What book of the bible does the word Christmas appear in again???
The world may package all the traditions of men as harmless and fun, but the word of God will be the truth that will stand for all eternity and will remain as the foolishness God says it is.
Since I no longer live as the world does and am in great company with the Lord who gives me the words that He too suffered at the hands of those He didn’t follow, I am left with His words…”REMEMBER THEY HATED ME BEFORE THEY HATED YOU”!
“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you”.(John 15:18,19).
Why again do you believe in all these lie’s, and truly who do you follow? Gods wisdom or the foolishness of the world?
They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error. (1 John 4:5,6).

I understand where you’re coming from. I still plan on doing some of the Christmas stuff. I enjoy the giving and being with family part. As long as we’re putting God at the center and keeping him first in our lives, I think he’s okay with that. The way things are going in the world, this might be the last “normal” Christmas. I don’t know. I agree that the world’s too commercial and I’ve been reading God’s Word more than I ever have in the past. He is so close to my heart and I wish that for everyone else. Thank you, Julia, for standing up for the truth about Christmas. There is no way to clean this holiday up to where God will accept it. It is too full of pagan ways. The command that Yahweh spoke through Jeremiah 10:1-12: Don’t learn the way of the heathen, who cuts a green tree down, fastens it with nails, and hangs gold and silver on it. This Christmas tree thing goes back at least 2,600+ years. Thanks again. I totally agree with your thoughts. kwhancock

Amen! Once I learned this was not of God, but was pagan I never looked back. Prase God for all He has saved us from.
