“Christmas Unwrapped” and “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT”

Christmas Un-wrapped—The History of Christmas” is quite a

documentary produced by The History Channel.  Harry Smith

narrates as it exposes the historical roots of how this holiday

came to be.  Its origins are pagan and go back thousands of

years to the festivals of the winter solstice, Rome’s Saturnalia,

Mithras the sun god’s birthday, and the Nordics’ Yule time (you

can see it here on youtube: https://youtu.be/Ots9y_xcaX8

I am astounded as I look out over the earth on this time of year and see people of every race, nationality and gender, embracing and reveling in this winter holiday season.I don’t condemn anyone for doing so; I’m just amazed to see people caught up into a spiritual vortex with seemingly no power to refuse. They are not just lured to the stores to buy anymore; they are told that if you don’t go and spend money, even money that you don’t really have, you are going to contribute to the downfall of our economy. It is not even subtle anymore.

It is like in Revelation when “the whole world wondered after the beast.” The people are caught up into something with a pull they can’t rationally fight.I see people practicing traditions handed down to them from ancestors who had no idea where it all came from.  They follow on not knowing why, and frankly, not caring why.

Like you, I am interested in the Time of the End as described in the book of Revelation.  How will the masses be?  How will they act during this time?  What type of world system will be in power?  And I find that it is called a “beast with seven heads and ten horns” and has a woman riding it.  And this woman is a symbol of a religious system, a church system.

And this church “was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand” (Rev. 17:4). This shows a system that is rich and luxurious.  This is not a church system that the ancient Hebrew prophets adhered to—the ones who were of the true faith, who “wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (of whom the world was not worthy) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth” (Hebrews 11: 37-38).  No, the true prophets of God did not array themselves like this religious system.

In fact, this false religious system has in the scriptures an identifier, a tag that tells us about her.  She has a “name written in her forehead.”  Names in scripture tell what the person or thing is—what its roots are, what its core values are.  A name in scripture tells us its origin, its reason to be, and its destiny.  This name written in her forehead means that her mind is full of what her name implies.  Her heart and mind is full of what her name means.  And her name was “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH” (Rev. 17:5).  Her name is given all in capital letters to signify its great importance to us.

And this church has blessed this holiday that falls on the winter solstice, that is built upon a flimsy, secular, and pagan foundation.  “If the root be holy, so are the branches” (Romans 11: 16).  What if the root be unholy?  So are the branches?  If we are a branch of the latter or are partaking of an unholy branch, are we not a partaker of the tainted spiritual fruit?

We, who are the called to be His princes and princesses of His soon-coming kingdom must examine ourselves in this light, for we are admonished to “come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins” (Rev. 18: 4).  We are rather to be “partakers of the divine nature” (II Peter 1: 4). 1. The truth will set you free. Free from the worlds ways. Yes, you have to be in the world, but not in what the world celebrates. Holy is HIS appointed feast days.

  2. Precious Julia, I am one who did not celebrate Christmas for many, many years. Did you know that the day designated to celebrate the Feast of Lights (Hanukkah) in honor of the cleansing of the temple is DECEMBER 25th? (1 Maccabees 4: 58) Ah, WE are the temple… the Christ MASS of believers with bread and wine to give and when the daystar fully arises in us…. when we overcome the world, the flesh and the devil, we shall spiritually fulfill the Feast of Lights being fully cleansed from all filthiness of spirit and flesh. Yes, I celebrate Christmas now because of knowing that GOD designated December 25th to be celebrated and we are to do whatever He leads us to do: EVERY day is the Lord’s day! As far as Jesus’ birthday goes, we don’t know what day that was. When parents don’t know a an adopted child’s birthday, they choose a day, and God, in His great wisdom, has had it that people celebrate our Lord’s birthday on the day set aside which symbolizes the cleansing of OUR temple, even the birth of Christ IN US. Now that I know this, love and the Holy Spirit dictate what I do, and I no longer refuse people’s gifts as I did before. On Hanukkah gifts are given and received. God is amazing that we can celebrate this day in truth, not giving honor to the enemy. May you become as free as I am, Julia, not bound by man’s “Thou shalt not celebrate Christmas LAW,”….. but led by the law of love. https://ridetheheavens.com/2018/08/07/the-true-christmas/

P.S.: You have a beautiful spirit giving encouragement to others with God’s words of life. Bless you and bless you more for being faithful.

    • The Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah) was truly celebrated by the Lord, however you are going by the gregorian calender when you say December 25th. . is the day people are to celebrate what is called christmas……. A word which is not found in scripture. It is the 25th of Kislev the Lord kept and this changes year by year.

The gregorian calendar which the world goes by we see December 25th stays the same year to year, but the calendar our Lord went by in His day was the Hebrew calendar and this year Hanukkah falls on Kislev 25 which is December 19 -26 this year.

On the 25th day of Kislev the eight day celebration begins, and for 8 night’s we remember Judah and the Maccabees and their struggle for religious freedom. We light one additional lamp each night and recall the rededication of our ancient temple……. A temple that at the resurrection our Lord died and rose again to build in three days as the temple of His body, and we as believer’s are the temple built in the Lord. (John 2:19-220,(1 Corinthians 3:16,17).

The mix up that is happening here is people are trying to celebrate a holiday called christmas and putting Gods name on the nonsense of the season, as they put up a tree indoors to decorate which scripture clearly teaches we are not to do! And all the other uncalled for festivities happening at this time of year. (Jeremiah 10:1-6) Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might.

Christmas is steeped in pagan beliefs as the world will continue to find every avenue possible to to justify the celebrating of it. We are to stay with the truth of the word of God, and not add to nor take from unless we suffer the consequence. (Revelation 22:18,19).

I am not bound by any man made laws, for I have been set free by the Lord from traditions of men.

      Strength and Hope.

      • Thank you for taking your precious time to reply to my comment Julia. The Bible states there are to be 2-3 witnesses to confirm what is of God with the anointing which teaches us being the prime one: At the time I read the word in Maccabees it was close to December 25th and a new friend who didn’t know that my custom had been not to celebrate Christmas, gave me a present of a LIVE Evergreen tree with a red bow on it. Habakuk 3: 9 states that His word is a “bow” and the color red represents understanding. I was given God’s witness through this “tree of life” and God’s anointing was all over it.
I think you’d agree that December 25th is December 25th no matter what calendar one uses, and this specific day is the day that we are instructed to celebrate Hanukkah.
How and what day we celebrate any day is unto the Lord by faith, eh? and we are called not to judge one another in such matters. What is important is that we love and respect one another trusting that the truth will be known in the end.
It is obvious by your writings that you love the Lord and are faithful to Him, Julia. (You have my granddaughter’s name.) I thank God for you and bless you with all my heart.

      • You write: “I think you’d agree that December 25th is December 25th no matter what calendar one uses, and this specific day is the day that we are instructed to celebrate Hanukkah.”

I do not agree December 25th is December 25th no matter what calendar one uses as I previously explained the difference of the calendar the world goes by which is “The gregorian” and in the Lords day He went by the “Hebrew Calendar” and they are very different.

This link may help you to better understand the Hebrew calender in which the Lord went by and the difference from our modern day calender. You will see the 25th of Kizlev which starts the first day of Haukkah begins on Monday the 19th this year, as the worlds gregorian date of Decemer 25th is on the following Sunday in which the world will celebrate christmas.

      • I have been aware of the difference Julia. Yes the days are different on the Hebrew calendar, but not the reason for the days’ observance. We using the Gregorian calendar and Christian Jews using the Hebrew calendar would still be celebrating Hanukkah on December 25th. The Feast of Tabernacles, other Feasts and other days did not have definite days ascribed to them like Hanukkah did having December 25th given specifically. They were all according to the moon, but Hanukkah WASN’T.

      • An important part I left out is that in John 10: 22-23 mentions Jesus answered questions on the day of Dedication known as “ Hanukkah.” Every believer is to understand the importance of this feast.

      • Yes! It is very important to understand the day of Dedication known as Hanukkah when celebrated by the Hebrew calendar in which those who celebrate it go by.
        Blessings.

      • May you know that I don’t celebrate Christmas because I expect or want any joy from it. My joy is in God and when I’m led to be with people, I meet them where they are and have joy in what God does during those times. I believe that we are called to spiritually fulfill the feasts and the other specific days mentioned in the Bible… that when the literal days come, they are simply reminders of God’s work within. Actually I rarely observe literal days (the Feast of Tabernacle, Passover, Pentecost, the Resurrection, etc.) as I believe that whether any of us do so or not makes no difference. It’s fulfilling them spiritually that matters. I wrote what I have to you because I believe that an anti-Christmas stance is not in accordance with Philippians 1: 18 which says: “…whether in pretense, or in truth, Christ is preached, and therein do I rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.” Our Lord’s name and His birth is preached at Christmas, and I rejoice in this. What’s the most important thing is our motive in doing what we do. I understand where you are coming from Julia, knowing your belief is unto the Lord in sincerity.
Thank you for your blessings. I send many, many back to you and much love.
