At the altar of conformity

At the altar of conformity it is so easy to claim christianity without actually having the faith it takes to be a christian. Churches today have incorporated so many teachings and things which are not of God, such as bazaars, bingo, raffles and the marrying of men to men and women to women. Even the music has changed from the singing of hymns to a band playing a concert, all to appeal to the people. Many flock to this new way of serving God, since they offer so much other than the teaching of the true gospel of Christ. Would not our Lord return today to overturn the money changers as He did so long ago? And will He find faith? (Luke 18:7,8) And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

Many serve weekly at the altar of conformity, mainly out of convenience. The worlds churches that many attend allow them to serve God once and sometimes twice a week for an hour. This allows a person to serve God 52 hours a year! Does not scripture teach us we are to serve God daily? For some this writing will offend them, but our Lord knew His word is offensive, and as some no longer walked with Him when He taught the disciples He was the bread of life so it is today! ( John 6:60-66) Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it? When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Paul in his day saw the same thing happening and by the holy spirit taught the people making them obedient by word and deed. He did not preach where Christ was named, as he knew this was not the sure foundation of Christ by which he was called but was another man’s foundation! (Romans 15:16-21) That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jesus Christ in those things which pertain to God. For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed, Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ. Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation: But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.

Paul taught of the sure foundation of Christ which is we the people. There were many divisions in the church of his day just as we see today among us many denomination’s, and he taught that this is thinking carnal and not spiritual. The true church of God is a spiritual church and we the people are it’s building (1 Corinthians 3:9-17) For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. ( 1 Peter 2:4-10) ( 1 Corinthians 3:16,17).

The world is good at accepting the appearance of things but true faith is not something one can see, it is what one lives on a daily basis as an example of a renewed mind (Hebrews 11:1-3).

My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace. (Jeremiah 50:6).
