We are told in Ephesians that the sword of the Spirit is the word of God. “And take the helmet of salvation,and the sword of the Spirit,which is the word of God”.
One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is discernment of any situation we may face in life.It has the ability to discern thoughts and intents of the heart. “For the word of God is quick,and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword,piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and Spirit,and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight:but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do”.(Hebrews 4:12,13).
God accomplishes his will in the earth as he wants and at times we see that the wicked are even considered to be his sword. “Arise, O Lord, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked,which is thy sword”.(Psalms 17:13).The sword can be seen as a way of God showing us the difference between a lie and the truth,for his word(sword) is often used to help us to flee evil and this is why it’s part of the Armour we as christians are to be armed with.
It is clear if we have the word of God within us we become Gods spokesperson as it says in Isaiah. “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”.(Isaiah 55:11).We are honored as christians to carry his word to a world where the wrong seems right.
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light , and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet,and sweet for bitter”.(Isaiah 5:20).Man always trys to change the word to fit his wrong which is why we are given it as a protection.
One of the greatest lessons Jesus brought us and people miss is once a person is born again and receives the Holy Spirit they think their lives will become very easy,yet many times it is opposite for the word of God that then speaks through the believer are no longer words of the world,but a variance to it.Here are Jesus word’s many miss: “Think not that I come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword (Word of God).For I am come to set a man at variance against his father,and the daughter against her mother,and the daughter in law against her mother in law.And a man’s foes (enemy) shall be they of his own household”.(Matthew 10:34-36).
When we give our life to Christ we are never the same again and people will notice we speak different and this is true for we no longer speak like the world,because we are not of the world and it’s ways anymore,but have within us the word of God written in our heart’s and mind’s. “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts,and in their minds will I write them”.(Hebrews 10:16).
God’s words gather those who are searching for the truth,and separate those who want to live away from his promises!
