” The Deep Rooted Vine “

Jesus is known as the true vine and we who follow Him are its branches (Bough’s). From early on God has planted a vineyard in the land, and just as a plant is pruned to bring forth its best God chastens those whom He loves which makes them even stronger. (Psalm 80:7-10,15-19)Turn us again, O God of hosts, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved. Thou hast brought a vine out of Egypt: thou hast cast out the heathen, and planted it. Thou preparedst room before it, and didst cause it to take deep root, and it filled the land. The hills were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like the goodly cedars. And the vineyard which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself. It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance. Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself. So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.Turn us again, O Lord God of hosts, cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved….(John 15:1-8).

When God was pleading with His children Israel He tells them how He had planted them in the land as a noble vine, but their iniquity is known by Him and they have been as a degenerate plant and strange vine. (Jeremiah 2:19-22).  Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the Lord thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord God of hosts. For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot. Yet I had planted thee a noble vine, wholly a right seed: how then art thou turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine unto me?For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord God.

In the parable of the tree’s in the book of Judges we learn of the deceitfulness of satan as all the trees and vines want a king over them, and when they go to the bramble (satan) they do not realize they are asking an evil one to reign over them as a bramble bush (Thistle) does not cast a shadow for any protection! And the cedars of Lebanon (Gods People) will be devoured. (Judges 9:8-15).  The trees went forth on a time to anoint a king over them; and they said unto the olive tree, Reign thou over us. But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? And the trees said to the fig tree, Come thou, and reign over us. But the fig tree said unto them, Should I forsake my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to be promoted over the trees? Then said the trees unto the vine, Come thou, and reign over us. And the vine said unto them, Should I leave my wine, which cheereth God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees? Then said all the trees unto the bramble, Come thou, and reign over us. And the bramble said unto the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, then come and put your trust in my shadow: and if not, let fire come out of the bramble, and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
