We are instructed to not believe every spirit, but to try and test them to see if they are of God(1 John 4:1-6). Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
The apostle Paul knew there was more to talking with people when he was instructed to preach among the heathen and said immediately he conferred not with flesh and blood!(Galatians 1:15-16). 15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
So many go through life unaware there are so many spirits that can motivate a person, which is why we are told to make sure it is of God for there is only one holy spirit of God we are to be in obedience to.
1.)Perverse and seducing spirit (1 Timothy 4:1),(Isaiah 19:13,14).
2.)Evil (Luke 7:21,8:2).
3.)Haughty (Proverbs 16:17,18).
4.)Truth and error (1 John 4:6).
5.)An’-ti-christ (1 John 4:3).
There is liberty and freedom in Christ when a person’s heart turns to the Lord, the veil is removed and are changed by His holy spirit!(2 Corinthians 3:13-18). 13 And not as Moses, which put a veil over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
