The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge (Proverbs 18:15).
It is no mistake God created us with two ears and only one mouth. If we were to listen to the holy spirit more it would drown out the many voices of what the world thinks is most important. As God says His ways are not our ways and it is the spirit that guides us into His will and not our own. So many times we read “If any man have ears to hear, let him hear what the spirit is saying unto the churches”(Revelation 2:7).
When we listen to the still small voice of our Father in heaven it is the best guidance we can have for our life! Jesus said when His spirit of truth comes to us He will not speak of himself, but will guide us into all truth, and if we listen will show us things to come(John 16:8-15) And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
When the seventy returned to Jesus and were overjoyed that even the spirits were subject to them He told them not to rejoice at that, but to be happy because their names were written in heaven(Luke 10:17-20). He then goes on to tell His disciples how blessed they were to see what they saw,and to hear what they have heard for there were many prophets and even kings that have desired to see and hear what they have and did not (Luke 10:23,24) And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see: For I tell you, that many prophets and kings have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
Until the hearts and minds of people change to know the will of God,their ears will remain dull of hearing what the sound wisdom of God is for their life.
The Lords ears are open to our prayers if we strive to do that which is righteous in His eyes(1 Peter 3:12) For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.
