Jan’-nes and Jam’-bres were two magicians who were known as the opponent of Moses that did enchantments and were called upon by Phar’-aoh, and when they threw down their rods which became serpents and Aaron threw down his we see it was Aarons rod that swallowed up theirs. Magicians and sorcery is not of God as these are from the powers of darkness and not of the God of light. (Exodus 7:11-14)  Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods. And he hardened Pharaoh’s heart, that he hearkened not unto them; as the Lord had said. And the Lord said unto Moses, Pharaoh’s heart is hardened, he refuseth to let the people go.

 The book of Revelation tells us that all the nations of the earth have been deceived by sorceries, even though there were prophets and saints in the earth they were slain by many deceptions. (Revelation 18:23-24). The enemy of the Christian soul is none other than satan, and his purpose in the earth is to deceive as many as he can….. but those who are in Christ Jesus will overcome all by His shed blood! (Revelation 12:7-12).  And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,  And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

 Even today in our generation do people still flock to psychic’s (mediums) and soothsayers who never allow God to be the only power of discernment given by His Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:7-11). Magic, mediums, and dealing with familiar spirits (speaking with the dead) and the like are a practice which is in need of being repented of, yet the day will come in which some will not repent of this wrong doing that is not of a Just, True, Holy God! (Revelation 9:20-21).  And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts. 

 The godlessness of the last days will mirror as it was so long ago when man resisted the Almighty power of a living God, and as in Moses day with Jan’-nes and Jam’-bres so will the powers of darkness be more and more prominent! (2 Timothy 3:1-9) This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
