When the disciples asked Jesus what would be the sign of his return, he did not leave them nor us in the dark as we read of the myriad of things which first must come to pass as we read of it in Matthew 24:3-31. Immediately after we read all of the signs he then says “Now learn the parable of the fig tree; when his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled”.(Matthew 24:32-34).
So how do we know we are near or in the generation of the fig tree? We have always had wars and pestilences in the world, so why is our time different to say the time is near? Plainly in the book of Daniel and also in Matthew Chapter 24 Jesus tells of the abomination of desolation which must come to pass as a sign he is near in returning. In recent news we have seen the destruction of the temple mount and this is a prophetic event as when Christ returns this is where he will be. “And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south”.(Zechariah 14:4).
There are two strong signs which is spoken of by the prophet Daniel and the abomination of desolation makes desolation of what God has in place. We are told the love of many will grow cold in the last days and iniquity will abound. We see a sure indicator of this when the president passed the same sex law which completely goes against the holiness of God’s way! (Romans 1:26-32)
We have a clear picture of just what the end times (The generation of the fig tree) will be like as we read 2 Timothy 3:1-5. “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God”.
The times are a changing and it is not for the better as fortold……………
