” The Call “

1 Corinthians 1:9…. God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

There is a calling of Gods people that comes with advantages and disadvantages. Jesus explained very well when He asked certain disciples to follow Him and they had this or that to do first in which Jesus replied that no man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. The call on one’s life takes preeminence over all that up to that point seemed so important. (Luke 9:61-62)  And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

It was at the sermon Peter delivered that the people’s hearts were moved to ask what they must do for salvation?, and his reply was the need to repent of any sin and they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. And this promise extended also to those God would call. (Acts 2:36-40). Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.  Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?  Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

The call on one’s life is truly life changing as it causes us to lose friends that do not understand yet we gain others in our life who love the Lord and have seen we have lost nothing that is important for His sake! (Mark 10:28-31).  Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee.  And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,  But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.  But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.
