The disciples were first called Christians at An’-ti-och when they had taught many others for a year(Acts 11:26,27).To be a Christian is to be aware there is a wide path that leads to destruction and a narrow one very few find that leads to life. God does not like us to be for Him one day and not the next. God addresses those who are luke warm and on the fence about serving Him when speaking to the church of the La-od-i-ce’-ans (Revelation 3:14-18). And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
When we bear the name Christian it means we stand for what is right and good. The way we live reflects the commandments given so many generations ago. We are the temple and house of God and always remember it is His will and not our own that is most important (1 Peter 4:16-19).
1 Peter 4:11
If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
