THE LAW OF FAITH

There are many laws we must go by through this life, but Jesus has spiritually given us the law of liberty. We are instructed to not only hear the word of God, but to do as it says and by doing so there is liberty and blessing for our life (James 1:22-27) 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. 26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain. 27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. ( 2 Corinthians 3:17,18).

We are not justified by the law but by the faith we hold in Christ, praise God He has sent our Lord who alone has redeemed us from the curse of the law! (Galatians 3:10-14) 10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. 11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. 12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. 13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

The day will come when our government will be ruled by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and then will the land be filled with true judgment and justice (Isaiah 9:6-7) 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (Revelation 11:15).

  1. Following on from your quote of James… If we were speaking Hebrew, that might be enough to make the point – but English makes listening passive. Hearing is not passive, and it does not simply “go in one ear and out the other.” In Hebrew, to sh’ma is to respond. It is not merely hearing – it is reacting to what is spoken. We cannot claim to love G-d, and not respond positively to what He says. To sh’ma is to hear and obey. It is why in Hebrew, the words for “hear” and “obey” is the same: sh’ma. Another insightful post by you… thank you and blessings to you!

    • Very good explanation! Your right Hebrew definitely explains “Hear” and “Obey” alot better!!! Sometimes alot of things lose their meaning in english. Gods Grace and Love over you.
