We as Christians walk by faith and not by sight. This faith far exceeds anything one could imagine as we follow the best example given us which is Christ. It is an honor to tell others about the salvation available for them and it is a worthy cause. (2 Thessalonians 1:11,12) Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
The disciples of Christ knew of the treatment they would endure for standing for the name of Christ and rejoiced to suffer the shame. (Acts 5:40-42) And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus christ.
At times this path that is less traveled is as a wilderness and parched desert land! But we need to remember that Christ has walked it and showed it was attainable if we choose to take up our cross and follow Him. Jesus spoke of the loneliness of his way as He said to a certain scribe there was no place for Him to lay His head………. We are as strangers and pilgrims in a strange land when we walk with Christ by doing His will and not our own. (Matthew 8:19,20) And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest. And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
We can see today around the world the persecution which is heavy upon the head of the Christian. Many stand alone against a world not worthy of the love God sent through his Son, but we are told we are not alone for this journey we are called unto because he will never leave us nor forsake us! There are many who have gone before us and we too will fight the good fight of faith as this is a solemn walk we will gladly walk for the one who gave his life for us! (Hebrews 11:36-39) And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.
Thank you Julia. Excellent post. Blessings
And Jesus, looking around, said to His disciples, “How hard it will be for those who are wealthy to enter the kingdom of God!” And the disciples were amazed at His words. But Jesus responded again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” And they were even more astonished, and said to Him, “Then who can be saved?” Looking at them, Jesus said, “With people it is impossible, but not with God; for all things are possible with God.” Peter began to say to Him, “Behold, we have left everything and have followed You.” Jesus said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or farms, for My sake and for the gospel’s sake, but that he will receive a hundred times as much now in the present age, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and farms, along with persecutions; and in the age to come, eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last, first.” [Mark 10:23-31]
Thank you RJ for this wonderful scripture. It is a great reminder our true brothers and sister are in Christ….. A family that is eternal in the heavens. We have not lost anything here when we gain the knowledge of Christ! His word and those who follow it are eternal!!! God bless you Always.
