Thought’s and intent’s

The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. (Psalm 33:11).

Many believe that thought’s, intent’s and the heart are not at all connected, yet scripture teaches us they go hand in hand. Early in scripture we find this to be true, as we read when Davids son Solomon was chose to build the house of the sanctuary ( 1 Chronicles 28:9,10) And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. Take heed now; for the LORD hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.

Even earlier in scripture we find God Himself speaking of the connection between the thought’s and heart‘s of men, speaking of how He was grieved He had to destroy man for such evil thought’s of the heart! (Genesis 6:5-7)And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Even our Lord taught of another connection, and that is of the heart and our mouth when He was teaching to the multitudes! (Matthew 15:16-20) And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding? Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

The word of God is alive and powerful with the ability to discern the thought’s and intent’s of the heart, what a wonderful God we serve who has made us fearfully and marvelously! (Hebrews 4:12).

Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psalm 139:23,24).
