The calling of a Holy God

There is a separation which happens when one is called unto the Lord. Although many bear the name christian they remain in the ways of the world which they were called from. The Lord who has chosen His people has not called them to the world, but from following the ways of a world He was never a part of ( John 15:16) Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

The calling of God allows us to become a member of a family who have all things in common, and unlike the world all are of one heart and one soul! On the day of pentecost when the holy spirit fell upon men it was apparent what the power the spirit of the living God can do (Acts 4:31-35) And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, And laid them down at the apostles’ feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.

When one has been called out of darkness into the marvelous light and knowledge of Christ it isn’t long before the hatred and persecution begins, but we must remember this is exactly what happens if we are truly walking with the Lord! We learn a wonderful lesson from the disciples who were persecuted for preaching the good news of the gospel, and even rejoiced to of suffered for the Lords sake (Acts 5:38-42) And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God. And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

When we are called unto God there is then a language barrier which was not there previously, for the world speaks of it’s own and is heard. Our conversation is of things above and is seldom heard! (1 John 4:3-5) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

As those of the world are busy being happy in union with all this world has to offer them, the true walk of a called out christian remains an unpopular one with days at times filled with loneliness. We have the foreknowledge that if we stay on the narrow path we will one day hear the words as in the parable of the talents “Well done thou good and faithful servant!” Although we may become strangers to the world, we are called unto the house of God and are now fellowcitizens with the saints (Ephesians 2:18-22) For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
