We do not have to have a pastor to be saved, to receive the Holy Spirit’s guidance, to pray, to communicate, or to read the Word with understanding. The Holy Spirit is our ultimate teacher, as John tells us in his first epistle (1 John 2:27). Certainly, the Lord has given the church teachers (Ephesians 4:11), but if their teaching begins to contradict the Word of God, then we must conclude that there is something wrong and act in obedience to the Holy Spirit, who convicts our hearts.

“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”
