The righteous and the wicked are planted together in the earth, and until God who is a consuming fire returns at the harvest will the tares and wheat be separated (Matthew 13:30) Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them:but gather the wheat into my barn.
It is written that John baptized with water, but our Lord who would be coming after him would baptize with the Holy Spirit and with Fire (Luke 3:16,17) John answered, saying unto them all,I indeed baptize you with water;but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose;he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire:Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner;but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable. (Acts 2:3,4)
Truly those who love the Lord will inherit the earth, but the ungodly will be removed as the chaff blown away by the wind! (Psalm 1:1-4) Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
