Jesus spoke in such a way that only those intent on hearing and learning the truth of His message did, when He spoke in parables those who had ears to hear grasped what His teaching was all about. He knew that the hearts of some had grown callous and their ears were dull of hearing, but when we understand with our heart and repent and are converted His message makes perfect sense(Matthew 13:13-17) Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

The message Jesus brought to the world was never complicated, it was the teachings of the pharisees and sadducees with their traditions which made serving God seem more complicated than it actually is. We must be guarded against traditions that may take us from the truth found only in Christ (Colossians 2:5-9) For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Sadly many people walk on egg shells around those who have chose to live their life away from Gods sound wisdom, unfortunately they are choosing to live a more complicated life instead of the more peaceful way of Christ. Remember there are many who have found the wide path that leads to destruction, but few have found the narrow path which leads to life and His way is not complicated! We are instructed to stay clear of those who cause divisions to the sound doctrine we know to be true in Christ (Romans 16:17-20) Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.
