Led By God

But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts. (1 Thessalonians 2:4)

Paul was an apostle not of men, but of the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father and he was more concerned in pleasing God than men. (Galatians 1:10-12) For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Even we today who serve Christ are as Paul in which we serve God in obedience as we are led by the same Spirit as he was. Remember before Christ ascended He said we would do as He did and even more because He was going to the Father! (1 Peter 3:15-17) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

If we are genuine followers of Christ our concern is not to be fitting into the world and it’s ways, in fact our Lord Himself said He did not fit in and He was hated without a cause. If His spirit dwells within us we too will be treated the same way! (John 15:25-27) But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

Those in Christ will not win a popularity contest according to the worlds standard. The world has many instructors of the word, but we are suppose to retain the truth Christ instructed us through the word (1 Corinthians 4:9-16) For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised. Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace; And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day. I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you. For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. (Romans 8:12-17).

    • Thank you Chuck! Yes the picture teaches us well what it is to be led by God, and not manipulated by man. Many Blessings.

P.S. When people steal our peace and joy in the Lord, we know they are not being led by God.
