Rely on God

Have you ever gotten to the point where no matter who you think could help you it turns out to be no help at all. Could it be we are suppose to have complete and total reliance on God through faith.

So many times throughout our life are we brought through many trials. There is only one difference that will cause us to weather the storms and safely come out on the other side, and that is to have full confidence in God and not man. (Psalm 118:5-8) I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place. The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

For some it may be hard to believe God interacts with man on a daily basis even though He does. Many know the passage how we are not to worry about what we will wear or eat, and how He feeds the birds of the air. Elijah was a man who knew God was able to provide all his needs, and we learn a great lesson when we read how God sent ravens to bring food to feed him (1 Kings 17:1-6) And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. And the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there. So he went and did according unto the word of the LORD: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan. And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

Asa was one who thought it wise to not seek the Lord when he had a disease, and went to the physicians and unfortunately it eventually led to his demise (2 Chronicles 16:12-14) And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians. And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign. And they buried him in his own sepulchres, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odours and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries’ art: and they made a very great burning for him.

May we never forget our only hope and help in this life. We never walk alone when we walk with the Lord! (Psalm 146:1-5) Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.  Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God.

  1. Amen this is neat. Life for me seems to just be getting so much harder than a it ever has. And I’ve been crying out to God and he seems so silent. That’s the worst for me. I feel I’ve failed him. And he’s upset with me. Please pray for me. Encouraging post! So relevant.

    • God is never so far away He does not hear us, and when He seems so far away just know it is the longing soul that seeks Him will find Him.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.   Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:11-13).
Stay the course and He will give you strength.
