Faith and trust are one and the same when it comes to putting our full confidence in the Lord!
The saying what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger is so true, yet our belief system is what makes the difference as we see those who have a strong faith in the Lord press on and endure many things in life while others become bitter and are most miserable. There are so many choices this life holds and if we place our faith and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ there is a huge difference for the good and we are blessed because of it! (Jeremiah 17:7,8) Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
The faith that fills the believers heart is not set on the seen, but on the unseen and of the assurance of what is hoped for. (Hebrews 11:1-3) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
Some of us have been through tremendous tragedy or even at deaths door, but by the grace of God we endure knowing any suffering which happens to us God will comfort and deliver us! Paul often spoke of whatever he went through God was faithful to deliver Him and brought him through all trials. (2 Corinthians 1:3-7) Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ. And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation.
For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26).
Great follow-up on last Sabbath’s message! In Jer. 17:7-8 the word “trusteth” is from H982 and “hope” is from H4009.
H982 – בּטח
bâṭach
baw-takh’
A primitive root; properly to hie for refuge (but not so precipitately as H2620); figuratively to trust, be confident or sure
KJV Usage: be bold (confident, secure, sure), careless (one, woman), put confidence, (make to) hope, (put, make to) trust.
H4009 –
מבטח
mibṭâch
mib-tawkh’
From H982; properly a refuge, that is, (objectively) security, or (subjectively) assurance
KJV Usage: confidence, hope, sure, trust.
‘Blessed is the man that trusteth (puts confidence – is sure) in the Lord, and whose hope (refuge – security -assurance) the Lord is.” Hence the song “Blessed Arssurance”.
