There are so many things people find to trust in other than God. Jeremiah lamented over how the people would choose deceit and deny the very God they say they serve! “OH that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people! And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity. Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the Lord”.(Jeremiah 9:1,5,6).

No one likes to feel reproach yet as a Christian we endure it for the sake of Christ, for it is an honor to serve him! “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acception. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, Who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.These things command and teach”.(1 Timothy 4:9-11).

There is no hope found in the flesh and therefore we put no confidence in it as being the servants of Christ. “For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh”.(Philippians 3:3).

Some do not believe in this life we have a blessing or curse (Deut 28), but that does not make it non effect to God. We are blessed to trust in him and cursed if we put our trust in man. “Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.” (Jeremiah 17:5-7).
