What It Is To Fear The Lord

To those who do not fear the Lord they make light of His power by mocking those who do. (Proverbs 1:7) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

We find the answer of what it is to fear the Lord in (Proverbs 2:1-9) My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints. Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

We live in a world that focuses on the love of God and will leave out it is not good to be full of pride and to be arrogant, and if we truly fear the Lord as Christians we love what He loves and hate what He hates (Proverbs 8:13) The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate (Proverbs 16:6).

It is written God gives life and takes life, and with this knowledge it sheds a light on if we choose to be wicked in our ways we are also shortening our life! (Proverbs 10:27-30) The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened. The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear Him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him. (Luke 12:4,5)..

  2. What a great reminder of the importance of living with a profound respect for God. It’s a call to embrace wisdom, reject arrogance, and align our lives with His will. Let us all strive to embody this fear of the Lord in our daily actions, reflecting His love and righteousness in a world that so desperately needs it.

    • We sure do live in a world that is becoming more and more void of God by choice, by forfeiting His love it so desperately needs. We must always fear God or reap what we sow.

      Many Blessings Willie

      • The issue is that people have lost their reverence for God. The world has come to accept what is wrong as right and dismiss what is good as irrelevant. God is no longer feared because people refuse to listen, learn, or believe. Even when faced with evidence, they still remain unbelieving.

      • You said it Willie! You have explained so clearly how man thinks his wisdom is more prominent in the earth, but the day will come when men’s heart’s will fail them and will want rocks to fall on them so they won’t have to face God and His judgment and then it will be too late. (Revelation 6:15-17). In the mean time we have knowledge that we reap what we sow, and man’s wisdom is foolishness to God.
