God’s word confirms He will take care of His children, for those who mock and scorn us and refuse His council He will then mock them (Proverbs 1:24-26) Because I have called, and ye refused;I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my council, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh.
No one was mocked more than our Saviour, but he now sits at the right hand of the throne of God. (Matthew 27:28-31) And they stripped him,and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand:and they bowed the knee before him,and mocked him saying, Hail,King of the jews! And they spit upon him,and took the reed, and smote him on the head. And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him,and put his own raiment on him,and led him away to crucify him.
We see the protection over God’s people when Elisha was mocked after working the miracle of healing the barren land and bitter waters. Many would not think God would allow children no matter what to be taken out of the way, but when they mocked Elisha the children were taken by bears (2 Kings 2:22-24) So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake. And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him,and said unto him,Go up,thou bald head;Go up,thou bald head. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare (tore) forty and two children of them.
We would think if one of our loved ones were dead the last thing we would do is mock or laugh to scorn the one who raised them back to life, yet our Lord was laughed at for such a miracle (Luke 8:49-56) While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
