We think nothing of reading how God spoke to Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, or to Moses and Abraham as though it was a time so different than our present day. This simply is not the way God is for to speak so long ago to the people and then be silent in today’s world. God never changes and as He spoke so many generations ag so does He still speak to His people today!
The passages in the New Testament speak of how God spoke in the wilderness to the Israelites, and we are warned to not be as rebellious as they were or we will not enter into His rest (Hebrews 3:7-11) Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To-day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved me and saw my works forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, they do always err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I swear in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest).
We see from the previous passage God most certainly speaks to us in Today’s Day and Age, and should take Him at His word. Just as God guided the children of Israel forty years giving them miracle after miracle (Manna provided, given quail’s, their clothes never wore out, healings), yet they still chose to turn from His way which is such a good lesson for us to heed Today!
Jesus (Yahshua) was confronted with the question by Pilate if He were a king? and surprisingly Jesus reply answered not only that, but who it is that hears His voice. (John 18:37) Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hearth my voice.
Did you catch that? Who it is that hears His voice? It is those who are of the truth that will hear Him. The widow who’s son lay dead knew just how the truth was in Elijah and did not hesitate to tell him. (1 Kings 17:21,24) And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the Lord, and said ,O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again. And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the Lord in thy mouth is truth.
God gave His only begotten Son who then promised the Holy Spirit to whomsoever would follow the truth of His word (John 10:3,4) To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice; and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
God speaks in a still small voice and in situations where we need Him, He is heard by those who have ears to hear!
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. (Revelation 2:17)

What most folks don’t seem to realize is that the very first full day of Adam and Eve’s existence was the seventh day that God rested and that the first rest day was communing with His freshly created beings. Who’s to say that the “Cool of the day ” in Gen. 3:8 wasn’t an evening of a sixth day after that were created?
What most people don’t realize is that Adam and Eve were the later part of creating work on the sixth day, and that on the seventh day God (Elohim – plural) rested from work, and that the seventh day was the first complete day of Adam and Eve’s existence. Who’s to say that the Lord God (YeHovah Elohim – singular) didn’t commune with His freshly created couple on that first Sabbath. Also, who’s to say that the “cool of the evening” in Gen. 3:8 wasn’t a sixth day evening (when it’s cool) that the Lord God was coming to commune with them again; remembering that days are reckoned evening to evening, and that the seventh day was blessed and sanctified. [I call that critical understanding of what I read. Ha!] LOLGB+
Excellent comment! Yes how many do think God created the heaven and earth and all that was upon it, missing it was the sixth day man was created. Another key knowledge you have given here is a day to God is from one evening to another, and not as most see it from morning to following morning. I won’t ruffle your feathers Phillip and talk about how that is why Easter is all messed up. 🙂
Be Blessed

No feathers to be ruffled on this old Freebird. Ha! Easter is all messed up and it is all mathematical. You cannot get three days and three nights to fit into a Friday afternoon crucifixion/evening burial and a Sunday morning resurrection unless one can make 2+2=5 and 1+1=3. Mathematically impossible!
