We are told in Ephesians that the sword of the Spirit is the word of God. It is part of the whole armour we need as christians to endure as a soldier of Christ! (Ephesians 6:10-17) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
God accomplishes His will in the earth and at times we see that the wicked are even considered to be His sword. (Psalms 17:13) Arise, O Lord, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked,which is thy sword.
It is clear if we have the word of God within us we become Gods spokesperson as it says in Isaiah. “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it”.(Isaiah 55:11).We are honored as christians to carry His word to a world where the wrong seems right.
Man always tries to change the truth of the word to fit his wrong which is why we are given it as a protection. (Isaiah 5:20) Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light , and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet,and sweet for bitter.
An important lesson our Lord brought us is once a person is born again and receives the Holy Spirit they think their lives will become very easy even though many times it is the opposite. The word of God speaks through the believer and it is His words not ours that are as a sword to others at times (Matthew 10:34-36) Think not that I come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father,and the daughter against her mother,and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household.
Precious Sheep Of Renown 
I agree that the word of God is indeed our sword, a tool for discernment, and a source of strength in spiritual battles. It’s a reminder that the truth of God’s word stands firm, even when the world tries to distort it.
