The Wisdom Of God

O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. (Romans 11: 33-36).

Solomon when asked of God what he desired to have could have asked for the life of his enemies, or great riches But no…. he asked for discerning wisdom from God! (1 Kings 3:9-12) Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad; for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. And God said unto him, because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast thou asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies, but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; Behold, I have done according to thy words; lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

It is by God’s wisdom alone a person finds true joy in this life! It is even better than the finding of Gold. “Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding”.(Proverbs 3:13).

The Spirit of God was upon Moses and when he died Joshua had the very same Spirit as Moses laid hands on him and it was known as the Spirit of wisdom! (Deuteronomy 34:8,9) And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended. And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hand upon him; and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses.

How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! (Proverbs 16:16).
