The very first time we see the word false is found when the ten commandments are given as God tells us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to not bear false witness against them. (Exodus 20:16,17) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor’s.
We see that those who banded together against Jesus (Yahshua) which eventually led to His crucifixion were not even able to agree amongst themselves as they were all false witnesses (Mark 14:55-59) And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. For many bear false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together. And there arose certain, and bear false witness against him saying, We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. But neither so did their witness agree together.
Did you know that anyone who lies is also the same as being a false witness? (Proverbs 14:5) A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies. (Proverbs 17:4).
So many believe the lie that there is no judgment in the earth, and believe God is so merciful He will never pour out any wrath of any kind. Although this sounds very nice yet it is not true, for even back in the day of Noah did God already pass judgment on angels who sinned and are in hell reserved unto the day of judgment as all will stand before the judgment seat of Christ! (2 Peter 2:1-6) But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly; And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly.
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren. (Proverbs 6:16-19).
